Marketing, in simple words, is the art of increasing one’s business by trying to convince the clients that, what you give can be more beneficial to them than what others claim to.
Today’s marketing world is on a continual rise. There is tremendous increase in competition and everyone wants to reap maximum benefits from the growing consumer demand. In order to shoulder this increasing competition, powerful businessmen follow certain marketing strategies.
Any client expects maximum to be given to him with minimum input and marketing strategies are focused on client satisfaction, which in turn increases business possibilities.
The marketing strategies generally followed are:
- Clients come to you only if they know what you can give. So one has to make oneself known to the public. For this, distribute pamphlets in the local shops, malls etc. Be regular at giving advertisements. Improve your social contacts, so that people tell about you to others. Always give your business card to anybody you meet. Communicate with people via media and press.
- Most clients are freebies. They like to go in for those giving a little extra than others at the same rate. So initially, you can give a little extra return, although only if your funds permit, and say that the offer is going to be valid only for a limited period. So that maximum clients approach in short time.
- You should always be honest to your clients because even a slight dishonesty can reach your client very quickly in today’s network age.
- If your client asks you about your previous failures, take the opportunity to explain to him the problems you face then, the reasons for failure and try to restore his confidence by assuring your present improved conditions.
- Ensure that whatever you charge from your client for your products and services is fair and justified. Overcharging may end up in losing the client entirely and undercharging may prove harmful for your business. Also it may seem to the client that you are compensating for a certain shortcoming and this can reduce the client’s confidence in you.
- Be a good and real listener. Concentrate and realize what your client is expecting from you. Ask him your doubts, so that he is ensured that you are able to understand his needs.
- The use of marketing mix i.e. 4Ps of price, place, product and promotion is used.
- Try to strengthen yourself where other market dealers may be weak. It may give additional profit to your business.
- Improve relations with other business dealers of your field. This is one of the marketing strategies of considerable importance. If you are busy and can’t take a client during that time, then you can turn him over to another dealer. In due course, he’ll be obliged and shall send clients to you thus helping your business.
Marketing strategies by and large are responsible for the profit or loss gained. By following good marketing strategies, one can surely give a new height to one’s business.
